a) Change in Points-based System
As per the new changes, minimum point requirement has been changed from 60 to 65 points. The candidates have to attain 65 points on Australia points calculator in order to be eligible to apply for this visa. From 1st July onwards, candidates have to get 65 points to get in the 189 visa.
b) Changes in the Fees
The current cost of the Skilled Independent Visa Subclass 189 is AUD 3,755 for the main applicant. However, the cost of the additional applicant (more than 18 years of age) is AUD 1,875 and for the applicant who is less than 18 years of age is AUD 940.
c) Addition or removal of occupations from the Medium and Long-term Skills Strategic List
To apply for subclass 189 visa, you need to nominate an occupation from the Medium and Long-term Skills Strategic List. The Mlltssl list consists of the 176 occupations that are highly in demand in Australia. The Medium and Long-term Skills Strategic List has been recently updated. So, before applying for the 189 visa, you must ensure that your occupation is mentioned in the list.
d) Invitation Round Results for Subclass 189 Visa
The Department of Immigration and Border Protection manages the Invitation round results after every 15 days. Now, the candidates will able to know about the Invitation results for the subclass 189 visa. The candidates with the highest score will receive the Invitation to apply (ITA) from the DIBP.
e) Reduction in Age Limit for Skilled Partner
As per the new changes, the age for the skilled partner under Australia permanent visas has been reduced to 45 years for which the candidates can claim supplementary points in the Australia point test.
